About Fayetteville

The home of Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base, Fayetteville has been re-launched into the realm of prosperous cities but not without a lot of heartache. While all the renewed military activity is a definite boost to the area economy, many of the folks, here, have loved ones in the military (e.g., 82nd Airborne) and the news has not been of much comfort lately.
There are many hotels in Fayetteville many of which are oriented to housing military families here to visit loved ones. Take I-95 Business (I-95 exit 40 if northbound; I-95 exit 55 if southbound) and turn onto Owen Blvd (a major intersection a little over 5 miles from either end of I-95 Business). Owen also becomes the All American Freeway which enters Fort Bragg at the Main Gate.
A favorite place to stop for many military families expecting to spend a week or more is
ExtendedStay America, a relatively new, extended stay facility at 408 Owen Dr.
There actually is much to see - and do - while in Fayetteville. A comprehensive write-up can be viewed at
www.What-Where.info.
For those of you just 'traveling through' Fayetteville, it is about halfway between New York and South Florida.
