$$ | Miles | Fit | Kit | I'net This column indicates the typical price range of this hotel. We use the following codes: E=Economy (under$50), M=Midrange ($50-$100), U=Upscale ($100-$200), L=Luxury (over $200). Please note that room rates fluctuate (seasonal popularity, special events in the area, etc.).
The approximate distance in miles from the exit to the hotel. These are calculations using GPS data. Distances along city streets will be somewhat different but this should give you a good idea of the distances to Discount Hotels near the cited Interstate exit.
Discount Hotels near I-93 in Boston offering 'fitness' or exercise facilities are indicated with an F in this column. If the hotel also has a spa, it is so indicated by an S in this column. Most hotels define a 'spa' as a large hot tub with built in water jets. In a few cases, fitness facilities and spas may be off-premises (entry by pass issued by the hotel) in which case dressing rooms are also present for your convenience.
Discount Hotels near I-93 in Boston offering a full kitchen or 'kitchenette' are indicated with an 'K' in this column. An 'M' in this column indicates microwave available. If the room also has a refrigerator, it is so indicated by an 'R' in this column. Many hotels have some rooms furnished with microwaves and small refrigerators but you have to request them. We list them only if there is not an additional charge (or so they have informed us).
Discount Hotels near I-93 in Boston offering Internet access are indicated (with an M for dial-up and W for wideband) in the I'net column. Please note that 'wideband' facilities vary. In addition to a network port (usually installed in the docking station), we suggest you bring along cables and your Windows distribution CD (in case you are required to load a special network driver). For 'dial up dataports', you would only need a modem and an RJ-11 patch cord (which you should always have with you, anyway). To check rates, amenities or make hotel reservations, just click on the hotel name.

About Downtown Boston
|
First and foremost -
don't even think about driving in downtown Boston; you could be better
off in Tijuana Mexico!. If you are staying in a downtown hotel (they all
charge for parking), forget about paying extra for 'in-and-out'
privileges. Leave the car in the garage and take the 'T'. Ah, the 'T' -
Boston's rapid transit system and it is one of the world's best. The new
subway, combined with the many bus lines, allow you to get just about
anywhere quickly and easily. The 'T' has an excellent, very informative
web site at
MPTA.com.
There also is a map burried in their web site. Go directly to the map at
SUBWAY. |
Because The Trail is outside, it is always open for walking. Individual sites, however, have varying operating times and some charge admission. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. Most spend about 4 hours on the Trail; it depends on how many stops and how long you spend in each. Guided tours are also available (not free). See their website for details. All the hotels in downtown Boston are EXPENSIVE! $300 per night seems to be the normal and, even at these rates, they are frequently totally booked. Real estate is at a premium here which helps account for the costs being so high. But with a water barrier on three sides of downtown, there is no way to make more room - at least not in the downtown area. Again, you could stay further out and ride the 'T' into the downtown area. |
